We had a jam-packed Halloween day with my parents leaving town, doing yard work, carving pumpkins, etc. I was plumb tuckered before the trick-or-treating even started. But Hudson was eager to get going and being awesome parents, we obliged. Claire wanted to ride in her stroller for the first several houses. But she eventually caught on to the sugary, chocolaty beauty of the whole process. Once that little light bulb in her head switched on, there was no turning it off. She insisted on walking by herself for the majority of out time out and about and would NOT have anyone holding her hand, helping her on stairs, or assisting with her heavy candy bag (that was the most important). She did start to tire towards the end of our excursion and actually let Max hold her between the last couple of houses. We were shocked when after a few minutes in the car (off to visit Max's parents and then the ride home), the kids were still awake. And Claire wasn't just awake...she was wired. The picture below was actually taken AFTER over an hour of walking around begging for candy. Notice the sheer exuberance on Claire's face and how she's keeping her over-stuffed bag close to her tummy (where she believes all candy belongs).
Meet or little ladybug and Jango Fett (from Star Wars).
Hudson more or less collapsed into bed that night while Claire took her sweet time, singing loudly, goofing off in the kitchen, and generally letting it be known that she was in love with the concept of going door-to-door for candy.
Now comes the task of making some of the candy "magically disappear" before they rot their teeth with it all. Gee...however will we do that?

Adorable trick or treaters!
Tyler was wired too after all the candy! That was my reminder why he rarely gets it. I'm going to have to borrow that lady bug costume in a year or two for Hannah...very cute!
