Now THAT Is A Burger

If you're a pal of mine on Facebook, then you've probably read a time or two about how much we love Salt City Burger around here. It's a local joint with the most fabulous hand-formed char-grilled burgers. And the toppings are just as delicious as the meat. In addition to the normal tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, etc., there are different cheeses (including bleu...mmmmmm), fresh sliced avocado, bacon, caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, and numerous sauces and dressings. We used to be big fans of Five Guys Burgers & Fries but SCB is undoubtedly about 200 times better. Sorry, Five Guys...you've lost a few customers.

The other night, when we ordered takeout from SCB, Max surprised me when he said that he wanted to get the "Salt City Double", a hearty burger with two 1/3 lb. patties in between the already larger-than-normal buns that this place offers. I obliged and put the order in, not thinking anything other than that he probably wouldn't end up finishing the thing. I was proven right...

After opening his container, Max couldn't stop talking about how positively ginormous the burger was. I expected him to dig in but instead, he just sat at the table for a few minutes trying to figure out how to hold the thing, let alone fit an edge of it into his mouth for a taste. He finally took a single bite of it and then allowed Hudson to give it a shot (and held it up next to Claire's head as she was feeling left out).

After the fun of taking pictures and laughing about the situation, Max took one of the patties out of the burger and we put it on a bun that we had in our bread cupboard and fixed it up for Hudson. We're never going to be ordering that again but as Max said, "It's fun to be able to say that we did it."

Oh my, now that's a burger! Glad Max didn't eat it all himself, it probably would have clogged all of his aterties! I have been dying to try the joint, hopefully, we'll get to it soon.

I say GNO for SCB....I too am glad that he didn't finish it. He probably wouldn't be able to play B-Ball saturday with that in his system!
